Are recent immigration raids jeopardizing U.S. food safety?

Last week, seven poultry plants in rural Mississippi were raided by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The raids reportedly involved more than 600 agents and led to the arrest of nearly 700 workers.
This post is not about immigration policy or the criminal justice system. My purpose is not to support or reject any policy, person or entity. Immigration law and policy is extraordinarily complex, requiring far more detail and nuance than could reasonably fit within a blog post.
